HOLY PROGRESSION
2015, INZUCHT FESTIVAL, BERLIN, GERMANY
PERFORMANCE, 35MIN
ONE PERFORMER, INFLATABLE PILATES BALL, SQUARE PLASTIC PILLOWS, WHITE COSTUME
White, sleek, forward-looking. With a strictly choreographed body, a brightly lit diagonal, four colourful, plastic objects and a sound collage, Holy Progression explores the influences, affects and imprints of technology on contemporary bodies. How do we move in a world marked by optimisation, speed and chronic readiness? How to navigate in perpetual possibilities, liquified borders between here and there, accelerated flux and glitch? By embodying the figure of an idealised, over-stimulated body in limbo between human being, animal and technology, Holy Progression puts a HYPER-body on display. A HYPER-body representing technocracy - a zeitgeist or belief system - crystallised into physical manifestations, resembling a state of survival mode.
