What is equality in a world where consumption is the timekeeper of freedom? Utilizing a 2015 CNN news report about North Korea as a sculptural ground zero Women can wear pants; people can eat pizza (CNN 25.07.2015) investigates the relationship between fashion, power, and gender. The work exposes the absurdity of gender equality as a digestible trend of our time in relation to Western standardization as a form of weaponized consumption. The sculptures consist of timekeeping frozen pizzas and jeans hooked onto metal chains, mimicking high street shop displays.
