Gutter explores the relationship between the body, health, and architecture by considering the body as the first and primary house we inhabit. A house requiring constant maintenance and care, a house, a home, and a building we cannot exit. The installation is centered around four house-like constructions of metal, with gutters and other recognizable architectural elements installed in unconventional positions. The structures appear naked and exposed through their deformed constructions and distortions. Distortions similar to physical and mental imbalances of the body, during illness or emotional distress. Both buildings and bodies require constant care and maintenance.
Each structure is equipped with transducer speakers, which set the structures in motion through the vibration of sound. Each house represents a voice in the sound composition, similar to a choir. The composition is based on bodily processes such as the digestive intestinal system, pulse, heartbeat, and respiration. These internal bodily systems become audible and intrusive in space, and while each structure, each body, conveys its individual voice and rhythm, they simultaneously appear as a choir and collective influencing one another.
