GIRLS GROWING UP #1
RELIEF, 0,9M X 1,35M
ACETONE TRANSFER ON PLYWOOD, ENAMEL PAINT, EYELASHES, LACQUER.
In the style of chewing gum tattoos, pictures of idols, attractions and magazines from the 1990’s are juxtaposed with childhood pictures of the artist. The work looks at visual sources influencing our understanding of gender, sexuality and desire, as a way to explore a young girl's body consciousness and embodiment of popular culture. The innocent posture of a girl-child, stolen from a cover model of a fashion magazine.
